What is Therapy?

Therapy or counselling is a way to give yourself a chance to look at your life, relationships and problems from a new perspective. Therapy is a collaborative way of looking at life issues with a therapist and finding a way to make sense of what is causing pain and hurt and to live a more balanced and fulfilled life. Therapy is a way to find your own inner resources and solutions to your underlying life issues with help from a therapist, or simply to achieve acceptance of life events which you cannot change.

Psychotherapy and counselling require a regular commitment to meet for a 50 minute session. You can attend as few or as many sessions as feels necessary and we will discuss this at our initial session. The initial session is a way of both parties, therapist and client meeting and deciding whether they wish to work together. The initial step to go into therapy can feel overwhelming, but I am happy to speak to you by phone prior to the initial session to answer questions on what a session entails. In brief, we meet and talk for 50 minutes and try to understand what you would like to achieve in therapy. The sessions are totally confidential and are held in a calm environment with no distractions from phones or other people. I work from rooms in Fulham which are easily accessed from Putney Bridge Tube station or numerous London bus routes and I also see clients in London Bridge.
